This project is inspired by the ISTD brief “Mark my word”, requiring to explore the origin of words. I choose the word “cheese” as my starting point, and explore the word cheese and group of cheese idioms. There are lots of fun findings during the process, like the phrase “say cheese” means smile, and “cheesy” means stupid. As English is my second language, from a foreigner’s point of view to re-examine this word, I really enjoy digging out the relevant stories and history behind the word cheese. Including making “cheese” typefaces, I enlarged all possibilities and my passion about “cheese” in this project.
